It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of photographer Slobodan Dimitrov. Slobodan was a Studio Artist with Angels Gate Cultural Center for 30+ years, during which he photographed many fellow Studio Artists for his Artist Portraits series.

Throughout his life, Slobodan dedicated himself to extensive projects that expertly utilized photography to document the labor force, including a 20-year project documenting the Piledrivers Union Local 2375 and Local 34. The Longshore, a mural which depicts the various longshore occupations in the Port of Los Angeles, can be seen at 255 West 7th Street in San Pedro, CA.

Prolific and engaged, Slobodan had an immense impact on the Angels Gate community and he will be missed.
Long Beach Gives is a 24-hour online giving day that helps our organization raise funds and continue to engage our community through arts education, exhibitions, cultural events, and so much more. In 2021, we raised more than $37,000 during this exciting fundraiser!

We can’t wait to see how you’ll show your support for AGCC and the arts in your community this year. Help us spread the word: Long Beach Gives takes place on September 21st, but you can make a donation to our campaign as early as September 14th! Don’t forget to ask your employer if they’ll match your donation to AGCC.

Want to go the extra mile? Consider becoming a peer funder by setting your own fundraising goal and encouraging your friends and family to contribute.
