Community Mindfulness Meditation with Blake Baldwin. Donation-based and open to all.
The Buddhist sutras regularly mention the importance of taking refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. This is a secular group for all local people interested in starting or maintaining a meditation practice. Whether you are familiar with the teachings of Buddhism or not, the power of meditation has been well studied and can be a benefit to all people. You don’t need to use what you learn from Buddhism to be a Buddhist; you can use it to be whatever you already are. Short talks/readings/recordings may also be included in any given session. While the material is secularly focused, some instructions and materials will be adapted from modern insight meditation, Vipassana and Thereavaden styles, as well as Zen, Tibetan, Dzogchen, and Advaita.
The group meets every 3rd Saturday of the month in Building H from 10-11AM.
This group will be donation based/no one turned away for lack of funds/pay what you can.
Doors open at 9:55am and meditation will begin by 10:15. Please arrive and get settled in on time. We will plan to meditate silently for about 30-40 minutes as time allows. I will offer some basic instruction to the group as needed, and will occasionally include quotes, talks, and/or recordings from artists, poets, and other esteemed meditation teachers.
