Studio Artists

The latest documentary film from Studio Artist Scott Anger, The Jihadist, began streaming on Tuesday, June 1st on PBS FRONTLINE.

Over most of two decades, Abu Mohammad al-Jolani’s life has been a roadmap of Islamist militancy in Iraq and Syria. Designated a terrorist by the United States, the powerful Syrian militant now seeks a new relationship with the West. In his first interview with an American journalist, the former Al Qaeda commander tells FRONTLINE correspondent Martin Smith his fight is with Syrian President Assad, not the U.S. Angels Gate artist Scott Anger, the director of photography and co-producer, and Smith travelled to Syria’s Idlib province to film with al-Jolani in February.

Studio Artist Lowell Nickel’s new artwork will be featured in “Anthropocene Epiphany: Art and Climate Change”, opening July 3rd at Orange County Center for Contemporary Art in Santa Ana.

The Anthropocene is a new geologic era marked by the impact of human activity on the Earth. The term is gaining currency among curators and critics as artists confront the global climate crisis. In the Anthropocene Epiphany, highly accomplished creatives point the way toward a sustainable future.

New Exhibition Opening Soon!

Multiples

July 10 – September 11, 2021

Multiples presents works by Nathan Gulick, Colleen Hargaden, Seth Lower, Megan Mueller, Samuel Scharf, Noah Spindler, Katie Thoma, and Kayta Usvitsky, with a text by Hannah Sage Kay.

This group of artists shares a strategy of building meaning from the multiple, from iterative or serial works, the use of standardized prefabricated materials, to the accumulation of images. These works challenge expectations of uniformity and predictability, in an effort to make citable organizational structures, units of construction in the built environment, and unseen material ubiquity.

Gallery appointments coming soon!

This exhibition is presented through support from the Pasadena Arts Alliance.
