Gallery Conversations: Magically Thinking
Saturday, September 24th
2pm – 3:30pm in the Gallery
Join us in the gallery for an interactive conversation about the work Magically Thinking, facilitated by Curator Kim Marra with exhibiting artists Sharon Barnes, Margaret Griffith, and Dakota Noot.
In painting, drawing, sculpture and installation, these artists travel between the physical world and worlds of their own creation, often blurring the lines between abstraction and representation. Their expression serves as a response to the insecurity of an uncertain world that leads to the mental gymnastics of magical thinking. On view through October 1st, Magically Thinking includes the work of Sharon Louise Barnes, Carlos Beltran Arechiga, Vita Eruhimovitz, Margaret Griffith, Kim Marra, Dakota Noot, Megan Reed and Jonathan Ryan. Learn more about the exhibition online.
Masks will be required in the gallery during this live talk and gallery tour.
RSVP at eventbrite to reserve your spot, capacity is limited!

Intertidal Encounters: Reefs
Live on zoom: Wednesday, September 28th
5:30pm – 7pm PT
Intertidal Encounters: Reefs on September 28th will explore the importance of biodiverse reefs and coastal ecosystems. Artist Courtney Mattison and scientist/co-founder of Blue Latitudes, Amber Sparks, will be in discussion with AAW artist fellow Taylor Griffith. This limited series instigates exploratory dialogue that considers our natural world through the complementary, yet divergent perspectives of art and science. We hope these interactive conversations develop our shared community understanding of the urgency of our rapidly changing climate, and prompt us to action.
This free public program is presented in conjunction with Artist At Work (AAW), a workforce resilience program designed to support the rebuilding of healthy communities through artistic civic engagement.
Register on eventbrite.
