Tess Anderson
Arts Education Coordinator
"Working in the non-profit art world has enabled me to intersect my passions for art access, equity, and education in a public setting."
Tess Anderson is a mixed media artist and cultural heritage preservation advocate born and raised in Long Beach, CA. Gifted with a childhood full of art education access, Tess passionatly pursued the preservation of arts and cultural heritage in her undergraduate education at Scripps College. Her interest of niche art historical topics, community arts practice, and fashion fabrication led Tess to her thesis on Hawaiian Featherwork and fusion fashions made for the Ali'i in the 19th century. Other educational explorations resulted in her work on an archeological dig in Tel Akko, Akko, Israel and her semester of study, art making, and travel all over Italy. Working in the fields of sculpture conservation, textile archives, and collection management led Anderson to discover Angels Gate Cultural Center as a perfect intersection of all her passions.
