Congratulations to Studio Artists Phoebe Barnum and Lowell Nickel for the opening of Copacetic, a mixed media artistic investigation into the fashioning of our own human footprint as artifact at the Michael Stearns Gallery at the Loft through December 18th.
The gallery is open each month during San Pedro First Thursday Art Walk or by appointment, 562-400-0544.
|
|
Upstairs at the Loft is more of Phoebe and Lowell’s work in Marked Terrain, which muses on a theme that is now often referred to as the Anthroposcene Epoch.
The Anthropocene Epoch is an unofficial unit of geologic time, used to describe the most recent period in Earth’s history when human activity started to have a significant impact on the planet’s climate and ecosystems

Studio Artist Phoebe Barnum will also be part of a group show curated by Jason Jenn & Vojislav Radovanovic at the Loft at Liz’s Gallery. A Practical Guide to Parlor Games & Magic opens November 20th 2021 and runs through January 2022
A Practical Guide to Parlor Games & Magic is described as a whimsical exhibition that imaginatively and unexpectedly explores themes that are divine and delightful, peculiar and puzzling, mysterious and macabre.

We are saddened by the passing Angels Gate Cultural Center’s long time studio artist Stuart Hamilton, his wit and sense of humor is deeply missed at the Center.
His family will be hosting a studio sale of artwork and supplies on 11/26 and 11/27, 11-4pm, at his Angels Gate studio at the back of Building B, the building adjacent to our galleries.

Gallery Conversations: Betwixt and/or Between
Thursday, November 18th
6:30 – 8pm, PST Online
Register at eventbrite.com
Join us for a virtual discussion featuring curator John David O’Brien and the exhibiting artists in the latest edition of Gallery Conversations: Betwixt and/or Between.
Betwixt and/or Between is organized by John David O’Brien, and includes works by Nena Amsler, Fatemeh Burnes, Mark Steven Greenfield, Renée Lotenero, John David O’Brien, Pam Posey, Shirley Tse, Alexis Zoto, and Ismael de Anda III in collaboration with Eugene Ahn.
The artists in this exhibition regularly transit between different worlds, be they inherited, imposed, physical, or philosophical. Betwixt and/or Between seeks to illuminate how these different vital points are connected within the artists, their practice, and ultimately the viewer.
The exhibition is currently on view through December 11th at Angels Gate Cultural Center. More information about the exhibition and AGCC can be found at angelsgateart.org.
Betwixt and/or Between is made possible with generous support from the Pasadena Art Alliance and Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles.
