Studio Artists

Studio Artist Lowell Nickel takes another Spring excursion deep into the California East Mojave desert. Twenty three years ago Nickel started siting his ceramic “Faux Stones” into the landscape in and around the Great Basin.

“My hope is that these hollow stoneware and porcelain objects will, over time, mature into a geode or solid nodule”.

Healing Elements and Lifeways’ (HEAL) Beading & Talking Circle Workshops are a Native-led, free four-part series, featuring a talking circle and art/beading activity.

Participants will learn how to bead and finish a basic, beaded rope necklace, while focusing on the cultural and healing aspects of Native beadwork (mindfulness, grounding).
These events are generously supported by Why We Rise LA for Mental Health Awareness month, and done in partnership with the Arts Council for Long Beach as part of the “Bridging Wellness” project.

Angels Gate will be holding Family Art Workshop in-person!

Saturday, May 21, 2022

1:00 PM – 2:30 pm

Join us as Artist-Teacher Rebekah Neel leads us in a collage workshop. We will go through the process of collecting images and words, connecting what we find to form our own narratives, and creating a collage! So much of being an artist is learning how to look at things and making connections. By pairing an image we gather from a source material with a poem, a passage from a book, another image, or just a word or letter, we learn to process our world in new and exciting ways. The combinations and symbolism created will be as unique as each artist participating.

Supplies will be provided. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

COVID-19 safety protocols (mask wearing & contact tracing) will be enforced.
