You will learn the fundamentals of flame working to make glass beads, following an ancient art form that has been practiced around the world for over 3,500 years. Instruction will be provided on safety, how to add glass to a mandrel, shaping the bead, and decoration methods using a variety of colorful glass. Participants will create 4-8 unique class beads to keep. Beads will be available for pickup one week after the class. Those with prior bead making experience will be able to make other designs of their choosing.

Your instructor, Steve Bay, is a glass artist that creates sculpture and jewelry using flameworking and fusing (@stevebayglass). Steve applies his marine biology background to capture the beauty and remarkable design of nature in his art. Class size is limited to six persons to ensure personal attention from the instructor. Participants must be at least 16 years of age. For safety, please wear only cotton clothing, long pants, and closed toe shoes and secure long hair away from the face. All supplies and materials will be provided. Questions? Contact Steve at [email protected] .
