It’s Family Art Workshop with Angels Gate Cultural Center!
July 15th, 2023: Family Art Workshop: California Native Plant Mixed-Media Collages!
Artist-Teacher Gloria Sanchez invites participants to engage with the energy and transmutation of two California Native plants, Chia and White Sage. This workshop will emphasize the cultural relevance of these plants as sources of nutritional and spiritual sustenance to local tribal nations and beyond.
Following a cultural and sense-based introduction to Chia and White Sage, Ms. Gloria will lead participants in creating mixed media collages about their experience of interacting with these two California Native plant relatives. We will incorporate images of those two and a few more local plants into our compositions along with paint and tempera sticks.
The intention of this activity is to encourage community members to understand the importance of having a respectful and reciprocal relationship with all relatives and elements on earth.
Our art workshop and Artist-Teacher change every month, so you can always come back to learn something new! Meet your teacher in Building A’s Gallery and we will walk over to the Rorke Classroom in G together.
Angels Gate offers free art workshops every 3rd Saturday of the month. All are welcome. Art activities for kids and adults, ages 1 to 101!
