Cole M James’s most recent and ongoing project Rue investigates the unknowns between the artist and the healing practices of our ancestors. We would like to invite you to contribute to a community altar one 5×7 picture of something that ties you to your ancestors, friendship, community, San Pedro history or connections you wish you possessed. Extending Rue’s reach, image contributions will become part of the altar created by Cole M James and exhibited at the upcoming exhibition Bridging San Pedro: Visual Literacy as Community Practice, here at AGCC. Cole M James will open the afternoon by speaking about the Rue Project, followed by an unbound bookmaking workshop, concluding with one on one discovery sessions with the Artist.
Attend the workshop and sit down for a one on one with Cole M James. Image submissions for the altar can be dropped off after the workshop at the AGCC office in Building A, Monday – Saturday 10am-4pm, through November 1st.
This project is supported, in part, by the Port of Los Angeles through the Community Investment Grant Program.
