Angels Gate Cultural Center is pleased to present Direct from the Classroom: Works by Young Artists & Poets, an exhibition of student artwork created in the Artists-in-Classrooms program. This show features multimedia artworks created during 1st through 3rd – grade visual arts residencies, as well as poetry and prose written during 4th and 5th grade creative writing residencies, from 14 local public schools.

Angels Gate’s Artists-in-Classrooms program provides quality, in-depth instruction in the visual and performing arts to students K-12 throughout the Harbor Region. Professional artists teach all classes during 12-week in-school residencies. Visual arts lessons offer students opportunities to explore the creative process through drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, and other 2- and 3-D art forms. Writing classes blend theatre, poetry, and creative prose.

The exhibition will be open to the public with a reception during Angels Gate’s Open Studios Day on Saturday, April 13 th from 12-4pm, and will be on view until May 18, 2019 in Angels Gate’s downstairs galleries. Direct from the Classroom: Works by Young Artists & Poets features works on paper, printmaking, sculpture, photography, and textile arts.
