About Angels Gate Cultural Center
Angels Gate Cultural Center is one of the largest visual arts organizations in the Los Angeles Harbor Region. They bring art and culture to the community through interactive classes, gallery exhibits of both local and international artists, professional artists’ studios, art education programs in the schools and cultural events.

Job Description
The intern’s duties will consist of supporting the Curator of Community Engagement at Angels Gate Cultural Center located near the Port of Los Angeles. The Gallery Management Intern will assist in facilitating art installations gallery planning, public relations and gallery programming related to the current exhibition year. This includes research assistance for Angels Gate Cultural Center’s PST LA/LA official programming entitled Coastal/Border.

In addition to intern-specific tasks, the intern will also participate in shared office duties, including database management, photocopying, mailing, answering telephones, as well as preparatory work.

Throughout the course of the internship, the intern will be challenged to problem solve quickly and be creative in developing programming that will impact the entire San Pedro and Los Angeles Harbor Region communities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An enthusiasm for the arts and a passion for bringing high quality arts to an underserved area.
  • Some experience or knowledge of arts programming, gallery education and graphics is preferred.
  • Familiarity of Mac computers.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to problem-solve independently and collaborate with others.
  • Reliable form of transportation is required, as the Angels Gate Cultural Center is not easily accessible via public transportation.

The Development Management Intern will assist in developing and writing grant proposals to support short and long-term gallery planning, arts education provision within LAUSD, and gallery programming related to the current exhibition year. This includes research assistance for Angels Gate Cultural Center’s PST LA/LA official programming entitled Coastal/Border. 

In addition to intern-specific tasks, the intern will also participate in shared office duties, including database management, photocopying, mailing, answering telephones, as well as preparatory work.

  • Attend two mandatory peer group events provided by LACAC;
  • Attend mandatory Arts Summit provided by LACAC.
